My devotional this morning was about being an ambassador for Christ. Like a devotional should be, it made me stop and think about how I was doing in this area. It didn’t take me long to think thank you, Lord, for grace – I should be doing soooo much more for you.
What does it mean to be an ambassador? In the words of Paul David Tripp in his devotional “New Morning Mercies” (highly recommend it, by the way) it means reflecting HIS message, HIS methods, and HIS character wherever HE’S placed us (emphasis mine). I’m sure you picked up what I got out of that….this life is not about me and my happiness. (side note: do you know how often I make it about me and my happiness? Every. single. day. And, I will most likely make it about me, again, in a few hours. Hence the title Daily Grace for this blog. It is VERY much needed.) But it also doesn’t stop there, God has a purpose and plan for us that is so much bigger and more beautiful than we could have ever chosen for ourselves. Being ambassadors means that we look beyond ourselves and our little worlds and live for a higher calling which is to speak and live truth in every situation and relationship AND help others to look at life that way too. That’s a BIG calling! The fact that we are to be representatives for the God of the UNIVERSE is obviously no small thing and we shouldn’t take it lightly.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5: 17 – 20a
Enter Grace. Again.
So, my prayer today is that I live true to this calling of being an ambassador. I cannot do this on my own, but that is why God sent Jesus. So, through GRACE, I pray that can live this day to bring glory to God and to live to spread HIS message, HIS methods, and HIS character wherever HE places me today.
Will you join me in this? Let’s do this! With grace…
